Cinema of Horror

Yorkshire based Duchy Parade Films are casting for a short cinema film Cinema of Horror. Inspired by Asian extreme cinema - Cinema of Horror is a dark, comic, nightmare about three male filmmakers at Uni. in Leeds.

Cinema of Horror is a contemporary, fast paced, character driven piece, which focuses on the relationship between three final year film studies students. The central core of the story revolves around a heated debate over current trends in Asian (mainly Far Eastern) Cinema Extreme. Each character plays out their feelings in a series of fantasy sequences reflecting their cinematic interest and viewpoint.

Whilst, we will be working from an existing nine-minute screenplay because of the importance of the three central characters relationship we intend to employ improvised workshop sessions to explore the stories dialogue and humour before signing off on the script.

HING is a Chinese filmmaker with a strong belief that Chinese cinema is the future not just for Far East films but also for world cinema. He questions HANS love of the darker side of commercial Asian Cinema Extreme and the values of these films. By contrast MARCUS, the philosophy and daydreamer in the group, wants to see more song & dance and also worries about HANS darker side.

For Marcus, his daydream is about to become his worst nightmare.
